How to Make A Campfire Pizza

Campfire food tastes so much better than regular food. Probably because it is so high in the holy trinity of flavor: salt, sugar, and fat. Campfire Pizzas are no exception to this rule. The added bonus is they are super easy to make.

Like a grilled cheese sandwich, you butter a couple pieces of white bread. Then, put your pizza toppings on the unbuttered side of one of the pieces of bread.

When you have all the toppings you desire on the bread, you put the other piece of bread on top. Make sure the buttered side is up.

Next, put the pizza sandwich into your campfire sandwich maker.

Now is the fun part. Playing with fire. Make sure your fire has a lot of hot coals. Place your campfire sandwich maker onto the coals and turn every 30 seconds or so for about 3 minutes. Check often. When the bread is golden brown, the pizza is ready to eat.

Finally, peel off the burnt parts and enjoy your campfire pizza. Be careful, they are really hot.

It’s pretty easy to overeat when you’re making these but save room for a few roasted marshmallows. Have a great summer!

I grew up camping, but it wasn’t until about 3 years ago that some friends showed us this. We call them bush pies and make them more as a dessert with pie filling. I do make grilled cheese sandwiches with them at times, too

    • Bush Pies are awesome. My favourite are the cherry. We serve them with ice cream. They’re also good with bananas, butter, brown sugar, and a little dark rum.
